Artist Interview: Mike Lee - Repose

Jennifer Bequio: In the past, you’ve participated in group and two person exhibitions here at GR2. How does it feel to have your own solo show here at GR2? Mike Lee: I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity, but it is overwhelming. Because a majority of the pieces are smaller in scale, I'm creating work up until the opening to avoid a situation where the walls feel bare or empty. But ultimately, I realized all I can do is produce as much as I can and have faith everything with come together.  JB: Is this your first solo show? Or have you done solo shows in the past? ML: I've mostly been a part of group shows, but yes this is my first...

Katsuya Terada Opening and Live Drawing

Katsuya Terada Opening reception and Live Drawing. Flickr collection. There's a lot to say about it and maybe the photos can give it some justice. GR2: Pass it On - Drawing with Katsuya Terada, Mari Inukai, Yoskay Yamamoto, Edwin Ushiro

Pass it On was our first multiple artist drawing jam. There are no rules, but the idea was to have a supporting cast around Katsuya Terada, who already did two events at GR2 in support of his exhibition. We were joined by Mari Inukai, Yoskay Yamamoto, and Edwin Ushiro. We projected and broadcasted the works in progress, while the audience asked questions. Each of the artists drew something for about 20-30 minutes and Terada photographed and composed the images into a single image. We'll make efforts to make this into a print. You can still order Katsuya Terada books and have them signed. (link to Terada's goods and art) Link to the Flickr set
