It's no secret, that if I were stuck on an island and could pick one CD, it would be My Bloody Valentine's Loveless. It’s no secret, that if I were stuck on an island and could pick one CD, it would be My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless. I could easily pick a solid album from other bands, maybe even Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys since it would make me smile, but long term, it’s Loveless. I’ve never seen them live, and I think the last time they came through was in 1992, or maybe it was 1993, I think they played at the Palace. Seeing them at the Santa Monica Civic was powerful. The first four or five songs, blew through everyone. The lights flashing were blinding, the video screen behind looping… the first song started with the video I posted below. Imagine standing on the floor with world record loud sound blasting… It was near religious. Even if it’s my favorite band, or single favorite album, it was almost too loud. 130 decibels, it would make the Guinness Book. Eventually, I left the front area and went back to the middle and pulled out my ear plugs for a while. I could hear everything clear. Their sound was much more balanced. It was still too loud to leave them out, but for that bit, it was totally clear. I’m not sure if the noise fest at the end is the way for them to go out, since it was their last show on their tour, but they did it. One weird note, Only Shallow, their lead song on Loveless sounds bizarre live – nothing like on their album. What’s up with that?

So what do you do in this time?
I'm not quite sure, but I'll shoot from the hip.
1) It seems like when times are tougher, you should actually work harder at any cost. Will it help? Maybe, but it can't hurt. Who will do this? My guess honestly, not many.

I’m not quite sure, but I’ll shoot from the hip. 1) It seems like when times are tougher, you should actually work harder at any cost. Will it help? Maybe, but it can’t hurt. Who will do this? My guess honestly, not many. 1a) Do you slow down because it’s “slower”? No, again that can’t be good. That means you’re part of the herd, complaining and without an ounce of a solution and expecting the same things as you’ve always had. Or on the other hand, do you expect more?! That’s not going to happen. 2) Do you find new ways to do things? New projects and more to move forward with? Yes. Again, you should do this anyway, but especially now is the time. 3) Is it time to be a dick and fuck with other people’s business since yours isn’t doing as well? Probably not. Yes, there is the notion of the strong surviving, but at the same time, that doesn’t mean, fuck with your neighbors on purpose, does it? I’d venture to say that during a tougher time, it’s the innovative that’ll be fine. I think the crime and incredible short sighted to expect everything to be the same as before. It won’t be, for perhaps years. I’m still thinking long term, and I see a lot of short term minded folks around. That scares me more than the economy.

I know I wasn’t gonna get too political here but I just can’t help it. I really hate Sarah Palin. If McCain gets elected, I might have to shoot myself. He would be the oldest president ever to take office and if he had a stroke or his cancer came back, this is who we’d have running things? Even as a vice president she’s an idiot and embarrassment to all American people. She reminds me of a female George Bush with that stupid smug look on her face when she speaks. I’m an actor, I can detect an insincere smile masking insecurity from a million miles away. The winking and “folksyness” is her playing up a persona. I don’t understand the folksy appeal anyway, I don’t want the soccer mom next door running making big decisions for my country. I don’t want somebody just like me and that I could relate to, I would want someone way more intelligent than me skillfully handling the serious problems that our country needs to face right now. No more fakes please, we need someone genuine and sincere up there running things. Watch her interview with Katie Couric struggling to keep that smile while failing miserably at trying to connect Russia’s geographical closeness to Alaska as an example of her foreign policy experience. Watch Matt Damon rip her one here:And this is just the very very tiny little sliver of the tip of the iceberg here about why she is so wrong for America. I could go on and on. Her recent attempt to smear Obama as having “terrorist relations” because he knew a guy that was part of the Weathermen back in the sixties is ridiculous. Just as stupid as when Fox news tried to call Barrack and Michelle’s fist bump a terrorist handshake. I bet she had never heard of the Weathermen until someone on her staff told her to make those comments and she probably still doesn’t. The Weathermen are not the kind of terrorists that we need to be fighting never mind the fact that they don’t exist in that form anymore. What’s next? Would she accuse Obama of being a terrorist himself for considering Malcom X a role model since he used violence in his early days? I’m sure Palin’s logic would probably draw the link. If you’re American, you better vote, this will be probably the most important election ever. If you care about America and want some respectable people in the White House for a change, then you better vote Obama/Biden.
