Oh my… for Japanese in China, this might help. Instead of killing you, folks can go to a theme park, and pretend they’re killing you. Meanwhile, you can remain in hiding or say you’re Korean. Re-enact the taking of a village or defending against having your sister taken away as a comfort woman. At 80 million to make, it was probably a quick build. Every visit to the Yasukuni Shrine by the Prime Minister of Japan, enflames all of Japan’s past war crimes. Enshrined are 14 Class A War Criminals (See the list here at China.org.cn of course!) among plenty of soldiers. A possible future PM, Shinzo Abe recently visited the shrine, possibly causing a stir with both Chinese and Koreans during this island dispute. Here are a few photos from a visit in 2010. With the Nobel Prize in Literature going to someone other than a Giant Robot staff writer, we’re now trying to jump on the band wagon and support the actual winner, Mo Yan of China. Yet where does one start? There’s plenty of books and although cinema has always been a strong point of culture in China, it’s literature is lesser known. Some of the great writers novels have become movies. We just don’t know about them. Red Sorghum, the epic film by Zhang Yimou starring Gong Li, yes, Mo Yan wrote that one.
