The Hong Kong Motion Pictures Industry Association (MPIA) is urging the world’s largest video-sharing website, YouTube, to enforce international copyright infringement measures after finding footage from some of its blockbuster box-office hits like Love in the Buff and some 200 other films available for free online. This week, the HK association blamed YouTube for estimated losses of $308 million, adding that YouTube was slow to remove the illegally uploaded version of Love in the Buff, even after Media Asia, the film’s producers, filed a formal complaint. HK filmmakers say a recent search found some of their most popular hits available on the Google-owned YouTube servers, including Hong Kong Film Awards winners: A Simple Life, The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, Echoes of the Rainbow, and Shaolin Soccer. Blockbuster Ip Man and its sequel were split into 107 video files, while the pirated YouTube videos of clubbing drama Lan Kwai Fong and Jet Li’s Fearless received 1.8 million and 1.4 million hits, respectively. A classic fight scene from Bruce Lee’s Way of the Dragon was viewed 4.8 million times. (The Hollywood Reporter – HK Piracy)

Here’s a new tune I wrote. Actually wrote it on a walk to the coffee shop one day, just speaking words into my phone as they came into my head… pretending like I was having a conversation with someone. This song was sort of an experiment, I wanted to write it away from an instrument… starting with words. I usually sit around with a pen and paper, but I found that the left/right rhythm of feet against concrete gets my brain going. When I get to the coffee shop, I sit down with a cup of joe, jot stuff down. Then I walk home, humming revisions or new ideas. I made this video yesterday, walking the same route as I did when I wrote the song in November. I tried walking my cat on a leash, but he wasn’t having it. There’s some footage of my friend’s home/studio in San Juan Bautista, where I recorded it. The video’s like a little commercial for the song, which you can purchase Here

[Warning, Links NSFW] Japan is home to enough world achievements to make any patriot proud. This isn’t one of them. Masanobu Sato of Tokyo, Japan won the 9th annual World Masturbate-a-thon on May 2, 2009, clocking in at 9 hours and 58 minutes. Metropolis TV videotaped a brief documentary on his daily life where he “trains” for two hours with a tenga in front of his girlfriend and cat. (You read that correctly). Wait until the end of the video though. That’s when it gets really depressing.  He expresses that “A real female of course, smells, is dirty…because it’s a human being…So we have this anime, isn’t it clean and pretty? Masanobu Sato, a living, breathing, forever alone meme.

Ed Lee isn’t a youtube sensation, but in our generation, he can be. The title Fear of the Moustache is a parody of the Fear the Beard slogan that’s SF Giant’s pitcher Brian Wilson’s mantra. Supporters and celeb endorsements include Will-i-am. Tech giant folks, Brian Wilson himself doing MC Hammer moves and Mr Hammer himself. This reported cost $18k to make, and that’s still a questions mark. Perhaps it’s music licensing. The talent was allegedly all free, so where does that cost come from? The video meanwhile is still cheaper than the commercial spots and will turn some heads.
