The boat from a Japanese fishing village hit by the tsunami was found 150 miles from Canada after a year adrift. It has rust marks everywhere and for now, no one is doing a thing with it. Surely there are plenty of other boats adrift and you’d think by now a law would force them to have some type of GPS aboard to prevent accidents or to just find them if they ever get lost. It’s sort of like tracking space debris but in the water.

Not the video game, but a Japanese comedian. This is a touching animation that’s hot online. Great work and interesting idea that sums up a life. For some reason, aside from the characters looking Asian, it does capture some of the Japanese man. The grouchiness, the fulfillment not realized and more. It’s touching and sad. Asians have eaten jellyfish as an ingredient for ages, but for Georgian fisherman, this is a huge crop. It’s technically not an animal, according to some vegans since they have no nervous system. They’re like floating plants, but the word “fish” persists which keeps many away. It has a crunch, a flavor that tastes simple yet offers a strange experience. Add soy sauce, it’ll taste like soy sauce. After you get over it, it becomes a staple. No big deal, but gladly it’s an alternative food source. (VOA news – Jellyfish)

Later this month the cherry blossom trees in Washington DC will hit full bloom and these trees aren’t your typical Japanese cherry blossom trees, there are some that are over 100 years old. Normally they get to 50. There are only a few of the original 3000 planted 100 years ago in a cultural exchange. There are many thousands now and they’re scheduled to bloom later this month. It’s a stunning concept when you think about it. The influence of a tree is taking so huge that there’s a national level festival around it. (Seattle Times – Cherry Blossoms)
